How should a beginner practice photography?

1. Learn to hold your camera properly

There's no right way to hold a camera, and it really comes down to personal preference, but there are some techniques that will work better than others.

2. Understand the exposure triangle

Understanding the exposure triangle is fundamental to capture a great image. The three points of the triangle are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Each point will affect the exposure of your photo, so you need to balance all three in order to get a perfect shot.

3. Wide aperture is the best for portraits

Wide aperture photography is a technique that creates an in-focus image of the subject and blurry out-of-focus areas surrounding it. This technique is the best for capturing portraits, because it can emphasize the subject's features and make them stand out from the background.

4. In landscape shooting follow the diagonal principle

The diagonal guideline is a powerful composition tool. It is used to imply relationships between disparate images, as well as to create movement through space. When using the diagonal principle, you can create really dynamic and powerful compositions by going against the typical vertical direction in photography.

5. Shoot with different modes

When you are shooting with modes (find them Photo → 3 Circles icon), you are able to change the settings quickly on your camera and to get the perfect shot. You have to adjust the settings before taking a photo and can not change it afterwards. So, we have ORIGINAL, VIVID, WARM – offers golden undertones for warmer look, COOL – has blue undertones for a colder look, etc By understanding these modes, you can take the photos which have deep, sharp focus or fast-moving action with more blur.

6. Don't be afraid of raising the ISO

The higher the ISO (ISO is your camera's sensitivity to light), the brighter your photo will be. It is important to remember that it is not always necessary to use the highest possible ISO. The lower the ISO is, the less light will be needed to take a good photo. However, sometimes you need a fast shutter speed in order to avoid blurring from camera shake or a subject moving out of frame.
